The reason I bought a Styler is kind of funny. Wore my long coat to a samgyeopsal (Korean BBQ) restaurant in winter. Got home, smelled the coat — completely soaked in meat smell. Dry cleaning a coat costs 15,000 won. I eat BBQ way too often for that.

That's how I found the LG Styler. Put clothes in, steam removes smell and wrinkles, kills 99.9% of bacteria. The price was steep, but I figured I'd save on dry cleaning costs.

LG Styler

What is a clothing care system?

It's not a washing machine. It doesn't use water. It shoots high-temperature steam to remove odors and wrinkles, the hanger shakes to remove dust, then it dries at low temperature.

Think of it as maintenance between washes — for clothes you can't throw in the washing machine every time. Coats, suits, knitwear, padded jackets.

Best things after 8 months

Odor removal is incredible. BBQ smell, bar smell, all-day office suit smell — one steam cycle and it's basically gone. Come home from samgyeopsal, hang the coat in the Styler, go to sleep. Morning? No smell.

Wrinkles get about 80% smoothed out. Won't fully replace ironing for dress shirts. But "good enough to wear without ironing" — yes. I put my slacks in the night before and wear them straight to work.

Trouser crease press. There's a built-in press on the door. Insert your trousers and it creates a sharp crease. Office workers, this is clutch.

Surprisingly quiet. Fine to run at night.

Who should get one

  • People who eat Korean BBQ regularly (so... everyone in Korea?)
  • Office workers in suits
  • Anyone with coats/jackets they can't wash frequently
  • People who hate ironing

The honest downsides

Expensive. 800,000–2,000,000 won. But if you're spending 30,000-40,000 won/month on dry cleaning, it pays for itself in about 2 years.

It's big. Small-fridge sized. Studios might struggle with space.

Doesn't remove stains. Coffee spills, sauce stains — nope. That's still the washing machine's job.

Not essential. You can live without it. But once you have it, you really don't want to go back.

Rental is an option

LG offers rental at 20,000-40,000 won/month. Try before committing.
